Navodaya Entrance Exam 2021 – JNV Selection Test for Class 6th and 9th Admission

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) is the central board schools in India controlled by the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development, and the Government of India. JNV affiliates to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. JNVs are located all over India except for the state of Tamil Nadu. JNVs provide education from class 6th to 12th. For the admission in the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, you have to appear for the JNVST Navodaya Entrance Exam.

The Kendriya Vidyalaya and the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya are both the central government schools. Currently, there are 598 functional JNVs across India. The regional offices of JNV are located at Bhopal, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Patna, Pune, and Shillong. The details of the entrance exam for admission in the JNVs are given in this article.

Eligibility Criteria for the Navodaya Entrance Exam (JNVST)

For Class 6th Admission:

  • The student should be studying in the 5th Class at the time of the entrance examination.
  • The pupil should be studying from a recognized/approved government school.
  • The age criteria are between 13-16 years on 1st May of the year of admission for which the selection test is conducted.
  • The candidate cannot appear for two consecutive years for the entrance exam.
  • The candidates belonging to a rural area should be studying in a rural school.
  • Students belonging to a particular caste should present their caste certificate at the time of registration for the exam.

For Class 9th Admission:

  • The student should be studying in the 8th class at the time of the entrance examination.
  • The pupil should be studying from a recognized/approved government school.
  • The age of the candidates must be between 11 to 15 years on 1st May of the year of admission for which the selection test is conducted.
  • The candidate cannot appear for two consecutive years for the entrance exam.
  • The candidates belonging to a rural area should be studying in a rural school.
  • Students belonging to a particular caste should present their caste certificate at the time of registration for the exam.

Fee Structure in the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs)

  • For Class 6th to Class 8th: NIL
  • For Class 9th to 12: Rs. 600 per month for General/OBC candidates, NIL for SC/ST candidates, NIL for Girls, NIL for Below Poverty Line (BPL) candidates, Rs. 1500 per month for candidates whose parents are having a government job.

Registration for online application is free of cost. The online application process for the Navodaya entrance exam JNVST is given below.

  1. First, go to the official website www.navodaya.gov.in.
  2. Register yourself and fill up the online application.
  3. During registration, the candidate’s signature, parents/guardians signature, candidates photograph, and certificate of the current class to be submitted.
  4. After uploading all the necessary documents, submit the online application.
